Above the Strandline: an off-grid writing retreat on Isle
Martin, an island owned by the communities of Lochbroom and
Coigach. Here you will have the chance to leave the stress
of mainland life behind, allowing yourself to focus on
writing for a few precious days. The amenities are simple,
the island beautiful, the welcome warm. You will try a
variety of writing techniques and have the option of a short
mentoring session. There will be plenty of laughter and you
will also have time to explore the island.

Rejection slips, slush piles, punishing deadlines and
biting criticism – writing is no game for the faint hearted.
It takes dedication, hard work, resilience - and a lot of
self-belief. Much the same qualities required for success in
sport. Sit back and enjoy a glass of wine as the former
sparring partners of Lochbroom FM’s Saturday Shout, author,
Lorraine Thomson, and lifelong sportsman, John Grant, have a
lively conversation about the parallels between the two.
Free to attend. Complimentary wine and soft drinks will be served. Book your place at the library or email: email@example.com
